Why people look for an alternative
From public reviews and search behaviour, the reasons cluster into four, and they point at different replacements:
- Price, or what the subscription includes. The most common reason anyone leaves any subscription app. The fix might be a cheaper rival — or realising you only use one model and should go direct.
- A missing model. Multi-model apps differ mainly in which models they carry. If the one you want isn't there, no amount of interface polish fixes it.
- A missing capability — usually video generation, a real voice mode, or a desktop app.
- Free-tier limits that arrive faster than expected. Worth checking what each free tier actually allows before switching, since this is exactly the thing that varies most.

Interface preference is real but decides less than people expect after week one.
Who it's for: people happy with the format who want different models or a different price.
3. The official app from one provider
The option most alternatives pages leave out because it sells nothing. If you look honestly at your last month of usage and it is 90% one model, the official app from that provider is very likely the better choice: you get its newest features on release week rather than whenever they reach an API, and you get deep integration with that company's ecosystem. Multi-model apps cannot match either.

4. A dedicated media app instead

Who it's for: people producing media as the main job rather than alongside other work.
5. A model-agnostic power-user front end
Bring-your-own-API-key clients and aggregator front ends trade convenience for control: you pay per token instead of monthly, and you configure things yourself. Cheaper at low volume, more expensive at high volume, and a project rather than an app.
Who it's for: technical users who want per-token billing and configuration.
6. Nothing — audit your usage first
Worth saying plainly: a meaningful share of people who churn from these apps discover they were paying for breadth they used twice. Before you subscribe to a replacement, look at what you actually asked for over the last month. If it was summarising and drafting, most free tiers cover it.
Who it's for: light users. Nobody sells this option, which is why it belongs on the list.
