# Privacy Policy — GO AI Calorie

Effective date: **August 24, 2026** · Version: 1.0

Canonical URL: https://goaichat.app/calorie/privacy

## 1. The Short Version

GO AI Calorie ("the App") estimates calories and macros from a meal photo, tracks your daily nutrition, and helps you cook. This policy covers the GO AI Calorie iPhone and iPad app specifically. It is separate from the GO AI privacy policy (https://goaichat.app/privacy), which covers our other apps.

- **Meal photos are sent to be analyzed**, and the estimate comes back. See section 2.
- **Your food log stays on your device.** Meals, weights, goals, recipes, and your cookbook are stored in the App.
- **Apple Health is optional and read with your permission.** We never write your health data to our servers, and we never use it for advertising. See section 4.
- **We do not sell your personal data**, and we do not use your health information to advertise to you.

## 2. Information We Collect

### What you send to log a meal or create a recipe

When you photograph a meal or ask the App to cook something, it transmits only what is needed to produce the result:

- The **meal photo** you take or choose, sent for estimation of serving size, calories, protein, carbohydrates, fat, fiber, and sugar.
- The **barcode** you scan, sent to look up a packaged food.
- The **dish, ingredients, or dietary preference** you describe when generating a recipe, and the **YouTube URL** you paste when extracting a recipe from a cooking video.
- Any **question you write** for the in-app AI assistant, together with the nutrition context needed to answer it.
- A device-scoped identifier that appears in our server logs, and a receipt confirming your subscription entitles you to the request.

### Health and body information you enter

To calculate your targets, the App asks for your **age, height, weight, and activity level**, and derives your BMR and TDEE from them. This is health-related personal information and is treated as sensitive:

- It is used **only** to calculate and display your calorie and macro targets and your progress against them.
- It is **never** used for advertising, never sold, and never shared with advertising or data brokers.
- Your entries and your weight history are stored on your device.

### Collected automatically

- **Device identifier (IDFV).** The vendor identifier iOS assigns to our apps on your device. It is not your name, and it resets if you delete all of our apps.
- **Advertising identifier (IDFA) — only if you allow it.** Collected solely when you tap "Allow" on the App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, or never answer, no IDFA is collected. Health and nutrition data is never combined with it.
- **Push token — only if you allow notifications.**
- **Usage analytics.** App opens, screens viewed, buttons tapped, onboarding steps, paywall views, purchases, and whether an estimate or recipe succeeded or failed — together with device model, OS version, app version, and language. Analytics record *that* you logged a meal, not the health details of it.
- **Subscription state.** Whether you are on a paid tier, which tier, and whether you are in a trial.

### What stays on your device

These are stored in the App's own storage and are not uploaded to us:

- Your **daily food log**, meals, and the photos attached to them.
- Your **goals, weight history, and macro targets**.
- Your **cookbook**, saved recipes, ratings, notes, and shopping lists.
- Everything read from **Apple Health** (section 4), and the Health Score and trends computed from it.

Deleting the App deletes all of it. We cannot recover it for you, because we never had it.

## 3. How We Use It

- To estimate the nutrition in your meal photo and to look up scanned packaged foods.
- To generate recipes, extract them from a cooking video, scale servings, and build shopping lists.
- To calculate your daily targets and show your dashboard, trends, Health Score, and insights.
- To answer your follow-up questions in the in-app AI assistant.
- To confirm purchases and subscription status.
- To diagnose failures — when a request fails, we record that it failed and why.
- To understand which features are used and to improve the App.
- To measure which promotions bring people to the App, where you have allowed tracking.
- To send notifications, where you have allowed them.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your meal photos, your body measurements, or your Apple Health data to advertise to you, and we do not use them to train our own models.

## 4. Apple Health

The App can read from Apple Health to enrich your dashboard. This is optional and off until you allow it.

- **You choose what to share.** iOS asks you category by category. The App requests read access to steps, workouts, active energy, and weight so it can show activity alongside nutrition and calculate energy balance.
- **It is read, not uploaded.** Data read from Apple Health stays on your device. It is not transmitted to our servers, not sent to the AI providers in section 5, and not shared with any third party.
- **It is never used for advertising.** In line with Apple's requirements, health data is never used for advertising, marketing, or similar services, and is never sold or shared with data brokers.
- **You can revoke it at any time** in the Health app → Sharing → Apps, or in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health. The rest of the App continues to work.
- **If the App writes to Apple Health**, it writes only entries you created — such as a logged meal's energy — and only with your permission.

## 5. AI Processing and Service Providers

GO AI Calorie does not run the models itself. To estimate a meal or generate a recipe, the content described in section 2 is transmitted through our servers to the third-party model providers we use:

- **OpenAI** (GPT vision and text models) — https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy
- **Google** (Gemini models, including cooking-video understanding) — https://policies.google.com/privacy
- **xAI** (Grok models) — https://x.ai/legal/privacy-policy
- **DeepSeek** (DeepSeek models) — https://www.deepseek.com/privacy

Your Apple Health data is not among the content sent to these providers.

We also rely on these service providers to operate the App:

- **Google Firebase** — authentication, database, analytics, and crash reporting — https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
- **Apphud** — purchase validation and subscription status — https://apphud.com/privacy
- **OneSignal** — push notification delivery — https://onesignal.com/privacy_policy
- **AppsFlyer** — install and in-app event attribution — https://www.appsflyer.com/legal/services-privacy-policy/
- **Apple** — distribution, payments, and push delivery — https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/

Each provider processes data under its own privacy policy. Only the content required to fulfil your request is sent, and it is sent encrypted in transit over TLS. Contracts require each provider to implement security controls and to limit data use to our instructions.

## 6. Data Retention

- **Estimation and recipe requests** are held only while the job runs and are discarded when it completes. Images are not written to a database.
- **Server logs** record the shape and outcome of each request — endpoint, timing, success or failure — for debugging and abuse prevention. Images and health details are not written to logs.
- **Analytics events** are retained in aggregate for product and business reporting.
- **Your food log, weight history, cookbook, and Apple Health data** are kept for as long as you keep them on your device, and no longer.

## 7. Your Choices and Rights

- **Camera and photos.** Deny or revoke access in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera or Photos. Photo logging and barcode scanning stop working; manual entry continues.
- **Apple Health.** Revoke in the Health app → Sharing → Apps at any time (section 4).
- **Notifications.** Turn off in iOS Settings → Notifications.
- **Tracking.** Decline the tracking prompt, or turn it off later in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. No IDFA is collected when you do.
- **Delete your data.** Deleting the App removes your log, photos, weight history, goals, and cookbook from your device.
- **Access, correction, deletion, portability.** Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to certain processing. Contact us and we will respond as required by law. We may need the device identifier to locate any records.

## 8. Security

Traffic between the App, our servers, and our providers is encrypted in transit using TLS. Requests to our service are authenticated. No system is completely secure; if a breach affects your data we will notify affected users and regulators as required by law.

## 9. International Transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. We use contractual safeguards and vendor assessments to protect transferred data.

## 10. Children

GO AI Calorie is not directed to children under the applicable minimum age in your country, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us and we will delete it.

## 11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the App changes. Material changes will be communicated in the App or on this page, and the effective date above will be revised.
